Another part of Inside Georgia is letting people know about great restaurants across the state. I want to start locally with a restaurant that has been around as long as I can remember. I’m 51, and I can remember going there as a child with my parents.
This restaurant is nestled back in the woods overlooking 36 Bridge on the Flint River. It’s a gorgeous view on the back porch at sunset.
We celebrated our anniversary this year at Riverbend. It tickled me that as soon as we got to our table, they brought a bowl of butter with crackers. I can remember as a child eating the butter on the crackers and loving it. Guess what? As an adult, I still love it.
I’m sure all the food that they serve is delicious, but most people show up for the fried catfish plates. Fried to perfection, the all you can eat plate is served with slaw, pickles, lemons, onions, french fries, and hush puppies. I’m a shrimp eating kind of girl, and I have to say that the fried shrimp are amazing.
If you are ever in the Thomaston (Upson County) area, be sure to check this place out. From the view to the good cooking, it’s definitely a place you would want on your bucket list to try in Georgia. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 5:00-9:00. And their location is 202 Riverbend Road, Thomaston, GA 30286.
